MAXREFDES Reference Designs

Analog Devices Inc. MAXREFDES Reference Designs accelerate designs with specific examples of high-performance Maxim products in actual circuits. These reference designs include design implementations from single parts to subsystems, all the way up to full system designs. Each design has been built and tested. These are offered in analog front end (AFE), output isolated power supplies, sensors and various other reference designs that allow engineers to implement various Maxim devices into their applications.

MAXREFDES23DB Santa Cruz Reference Design

Analog Devices Inc. MAXREFDES23DB Santa Cruz Reference Design is a small IO-Link light sensor with six integrated sensors, ambient light (clear), red, green, blue, infrared, and temperature, all on a tiny printed circuit board (PCB) that is 6.5mm x 25mm. ADI, Renesas Electronics, and Technologie Management Gruppe Technologie und Engineering (TMG TE) collaborated in designing Santa Cruz as an IO-Link version 1.1/1.0 compliant light sensor reference design. The Santa Cruz design consists of an industry-standard ADI IO-Link device transceiver (MAX14821), an ultra-low-power, 16-bit microcontroller (RL78) utilizing an IO-Link device stack, and an ADI light sensor (MAX44008).

Sensor Reference Designs

Analog Devices Inc. MAXREFDES15, MAXREFDES16, MAXREFDES23DB, MAXREFDES27, MAXREFDES38, and MAXREFDES70 are each sensor-related reference designs. The MAXREFDES15 Monterey is an ultra-low power, high accuracy 4-20mA 2-wire current loop sensor evaluation board. The MAXREFDES16 Novato is a 16-bit, high-accuracy, loop-powered temperature transducer that transmits temperature information from a remote object to the central control unit over a 4-20mA current loop and using the highway addressable remote transducer (HART) communication protocol. The MAXREFDES23DB Santa Cruz is the world's smallest IO-Link light sensor with six integrated sensors ambient light (clear), red, green, blue, infrared, and temperature all on a tiny printed circuit board (PCB) that is 6.5mm x 25mm. The MAXREFDES27 is a tiny IO-Link proximity sensor with an IR receiver, matching IR LED driver, IO-Link transceiver, and energy-efficient step-down converter all on an 8.2mm x 31.5mm printed circuit (PC) board. The MAXREFDES38 provides the low-power, high-speed, high-accuracy analog front-end designed for the ECT/EPT or current fault sensor application. The MAXREFDES70 uses ultrasonic Time-of-Flight (ToF) which sends and receives ultrasonic waves between piezoelectric transducers in both the upstream and downstream directions in the pipe.
